The order of wudu, and why it matters
Wudu has ten steps in the order the Prophet ﷺ made it: the intention and Bismillah, the hands, the mouth, the nose, the face, the arms, the head, the ears, the feet, and the dua at the end. The game asks you to put them back in that order. When you check, the steps in the right place stay, and the others go back for another try.
The right order
- Make the intention and say Bismillah
- Wash both hands three times
- Rinse the mouth three times
- Rinse the nose three times
- Wash the face three times Fard
- Wash the arms three times Fard
- Wipe the head Fard
- Wipe the ears and the neck
- Wash the feet three times Fard
- Say the dua after wudu
Four acts are fard: washing the face, washing the arms including the elbows, wiping a quarter of the head, and washing the feet including the ankles. Keeping the order is sunnah, so a wudu done out of order still counts, but it misses the sunnah. Children should learn the order from the start.
Other madhhabs
- Shafi'i, Hanbali
- Keeping the order of the four limbs is fard, so washing them out of order does not count.
- Maliki
- Keeping the order is sunnah, as in the Hanafi school.

Is wudu valid if the steps are out of order?
