Quran 29:69, We will guide them to Our ways.

Surah Al-Ankabut, ayah 69: "And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good." Read it in Arabic with transliteration and the Sahih International translation, with the ayah before and after it, and listen to it recited.

29:68Before

Wa man azlamu mimma nif taraa 'alal laahi kaziban aw kazzaba bilhaqqi lammaa jaaa'ah; alaisa fee jahannama maswal lil kaafireen

And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?

29:69This ayah

Wallazeena jaahadoo feenaa lanahdiyannahum subulana; wa innal laaha lama'al muhsineen

And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.

Meaning and lessons

What Quran 29:69 means, in brief.

The last ayah of Surah Al-Ankabut promises: those who strive for Us, We will surely guide them to Our ways, and Allah is with those who do good. Ibn Kathir explains that whoever acts on what he knows, Allah teaches him what he does not know, and that striving here includes the struggle against one's own desires in obeying Allah.

The surah opened with tests (29:2: do people think they will be left to say "we believe" and not be tested?), and it ends with this promise of guidance for those who keep going.

Summarised in our own words from Tafsir Ibn Kathir, on Quran 29:69. Translation of the ayah: Sahih International.
