Meaning and lessons

What Quran 25:63 means, in brief.

This ayah begins a description of the Ibad ar-Rahman, the servants of the Most Merciful, that continues to the end of Surah Al-Furqan. They walk on the earth gently, with dignity and without arrogance, and when the ignorant speak to them harshly they reply with words of peace.

Ibn Kathir notes that walking gently does not mean walking like a sick or weak person: the Prophet ﷺ walked briskly, as if coming down a slope. It means humility and calm. And replying with peace means they do not answer foolishness with foolishness; they forgive and speak only good, as the Prophet ﷺ did, whose patience only grew when people were rude to him.
