Meaning and lessons

What Quran 20:46 means, in brief.

Musa and Harun were sent to Pharaoh and said they feared he would act hastily against them or transgress. Allah answered: "Fear not. I am with you both; I hear and I see." Ibn Kathir explains that this is Allah's support, protection and help: nothing is hidden from Him, and nothing happens to them without His knowledge.

Two ayat earlier Allah told them to speak to Pharaoh with gentle words (20:44). Courage and gentleness go together in calling to the truth.

Summarised in our own words from Tafsir Ibn Kathir, on Quran 20:46. Translation of the ayah: Sahih International.
