Dua for health, and healing (shifa).

The Prophet ﷺ would wipe the sick with his right hand and say a short dua for complete healing.

Dua 1

Allāhumma rabban-nās, adhhibil-baʾs, ishfihi wa antash-shāfī, lā shifāʾa illā shifāʾuk, shifāʾan lā yughādiru saqamā

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and heal him, You are the Healer. There is no healing but Yours, a healing that leaves no illness behind.

Sahih al-Bukhari 5743; Sahih Muslim 2191

Dua 2: For your own pain

Bismillāh (3 times). Aʿūdhu billāhi wa qudratihī min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir (7 times)

In the name of Allah. I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and fear. (With your hand on the place of pain.)

Sahih Muslim 2202

Dua 3: The dua of Ayyub

Annī massaniyaḍ-ḍurru wa anta arḥamur-rāḥimīn

Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful. (The dua of Ayyub in his long illness.)

Guide

When and how to say it.

The Prophet ﷺ would wipe the sick with his right hand and say a short dua for complete healing.

Seeking medical treatment is sunnah: "Allah has not sent down a disease without sending down its cure."1 Combine treatment with these duas and patience. When you go to see someone who is ill, use the duas for visiting the sick, and for a child, the dua for a sick child.
